Please download the data into a data folder and create a results folder. You will need to add their path to the do files.

A. Replication of the Manuscript Tables.

• CNT_JEG_Repro.dta: Sample to reproduce Tables 1-4 and parts of Tables 6 & 7.
• CNT_JEG_Extensive_Repro.dta: Sample to reproduce Table 5 and parts of Tables 6 & 7.

B. Replication of the Online Appendix Tables.

The Online Appendix collects the supplementary material and presents the data sources, the table of the results of the robustness tests and additional findings discussed in the main body, the full list of countries in the baseline sample with the information on the trade and political regimes and their dates of change and the groups of countries into the different combinations of trade and political regimes
